On October 7, our club recognized four individuals who embody the Rotary credo of "Service Above Self" at our Paul Harris Awards Dinner. Congratulations to Dr. Kerry Spooner, Lisa Jacobs, Leo Sledjeski, and Paulette Ofrias (in memoriam).

 

Congratulations to Rotarian Walter Krupski, recipient of this year's Theodore Roosevelt (TR) Award from ELIH! The TR Award is given by member hospitals of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council to recognize individuals for their significant voluntary contributions to Long Island community hospitals. Walter is a dedicated volunteer, both with Southold Rotary and with our local community hospital.

 

On September 27, several of our club members joined Greenport Rotary's team at the North Fork's Walk to End Alzheimer's. This worldwide event raises awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support & research. 

 

On September 16, our club was pleased to provide and serve a delicious supper to local community members at the Southold Presbyterian Church's weekly Community Supper.

 

DG Lydia installed our newest Rotarian, Marie Shack, on August 12. We are happy to officially welcome Marie to the club roster!

 

On August 12, we were thrilled to welcome District Governor Lydia Wells to discuss our club's goals for the year! DG Lydia shared her message as well as Rotary International President Francesco's message to "Unite for Good."

 

Thank you to all who attended the 34th Annual Lobsterfest at Veterans Park in Mattituck! Funds raised at this event will support many good works by both Greenport and Southold Rotary Clubs. We appreciate the community's support. Save the date for next year's Lobsterfest: Saturday, July 25! 

 

 

On July 21, club members prepared and served ice cream sundaes to 280 kids and counselors at Camp Good Grief, a bereavement camp for children and teens run by East End Hospice each summer. We were happy to put smiles on these kids' faces!

 

Happy Independence Day! Southold Rotary Club members had so much fun marching in the Southold Fourth of July parade. We were joined by family, friends from Greenport Rotary Club, and local volunteers for Canine Companions, a group our club helps support financially. 

 

On June 24, Rotarians provided and served a tasty meal to local residents at the First Presbyterian Church in Southold. It was fun to interact with the attendees, who really enjoyed the meal. Rotarians in action!

 

Congratulations to Walter Krupski, who has been named Rotarian of the Year for Rotary District 7255! Walter's dedication to service is unmatched. With appreciation for all he does for Southold Rotary and the entire North Fork community, we congratulate Walter for this well-deserved recognition.

 

Congratulations to Linda Sweeney, the 2025 winner of the Laura Goodale Award! On June 3, the Rotary Clubs of Southold and Greenport together recognized Linda for her outstanding service to the community at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. Each club made a donation to the hospital in Linda's honor. Read more about nurse Laura Goodale and the award established in her memory on our website. 

 

Our 2025 EPIC Day of Service was a fantastic event bringing together two Rotary Clubs, a local business, a local nonprofit organization, and community volunteers. Southold Rotary partnered with Greenport Rotary and Douglas Elliman in Cutchogue to build beds for local children in conjunction with the North Fork chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. We cut, drilled, sanded and stained the wood for twenty beds that will be delivered to local families as requested, along with new mattresses and bedding.

 

Southold Rotary was proud to sponsor several of the water stops on the 2025 Walk4Valor, a 22-mile walk from Southold to Orient (and back again), organized by the Act of Valor Foundation to raise awareness about the heartbreaking reality of veteran suicide. Thanks to all the community members who came out to enjoy our Italian Night dinner. A great time was had by all, and the proceeds of the event will support many local causes!

 

Thank you to our supportive community for contributing to our food drive on March 15! With your help, we collected almost 50 boxes of food and more than $400 in donations, which were divided among three local food pantries. 

 

We had a great time at WinterFest in Southold on February 8. We handed out many free cups of hot cider, sold raffle tickets for wonderful prizes, and were happy to share the Rotary experience with all who visited!

 

On January 28, the club held a wonderful night of networking and making new friends at Sannino Vineyard and tasting room. We were excited to meet potential new members and share what our club and what Rotary is all about.

 

Each month from November through March, the club volunteers to host Maureen's Haven at a local church for an overnight. Rotarians serve a wonderful meal, hand out new clothing and toiletries, and provide a filling breakfast in the morning. Hands-on service is what our club is all about!
